Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce that popular forward Shaun Kippin will be part of the clubs roster next season. However youngster Callum Queenan will not be part of the Warriors fold next term though as he is to move to North America to further his hockey career after a great opportunity was offered to the teenager.
Shaun Kippin rejoined Warriors last summer having spent a little time away from the sport after suffering an injury while playing for the Deeside Dragons in NIHL North Division 2. Shaun enjoyed his first season back in the maroon and gold picking up plenty of points while also making significant contributions at both ends of the ice for the Warriors on a regular basis.
Shaun shared his thoughts on the upcoming campaign.
“I am looking forward to getting back on the ice with my team mates. Last season didn’t end how we wanted it to and we want to put that right this season.
“Every team has improved this year and it’s going to be a very hard league so to make the playoffs will be our goal for the campaign ahead.”
Callum Queenan made his Warriors debut back in the 2013/14 season and has gone onto quickly establish himself as one of the most promising young forwards in the British game. Callum has iced for Great Britain at under 18 level and impressively averaged a point per game last season for Warriors despite the fact that he had his fair share of injury problems over the course of the campaign.
I’m sure everyone associated with Warriors wishes Callum all the best as he heads to North America to take up the amazing opportunity that he has been presented with.
Warriors roster is now starting to take shape as Whitley player/coach David Longstaff continues to build a strong roster ahead of his 2nd season in charge at Hillheads.
