Simon Leach named Great Britain Under-18s assistant coach

Whitley Warriors head coach Simon Leach has been appointed Great Britain Under-18 assistant coach, with Solway Sharks’ Martin Grubb being named head coach.

Talking about his new appointment, Simon said, “I would like to thank Ice Hockey UK and Martin Grubb for giving me this opportunity. I am extremely honoured to work in the GB programme.

“It is a very proud moment in my career and I am looking forward very much to the challenges that lie ahead.

“Having represented GB as a player, it has always been an ambition of mine to one day to be involved as a coach at this level.”

IHUK general secretary, Andy French, said: “These are two more exciting appointments for the national team.

“Both already have impressive coaching CVs and are well thought of in UK ice hockey. We really are building a fantastic team within the GB structure at all levels, both men and women.

“I would like to welcome Martin and Simon on board. They have great plans for the future and I believe GB’s youngsters are in very safe hands.”
