Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce that accomplished blue liner Sam Zajac has signed for the club and will go into the squad for next weekend’s game against local rivals the Billingham Stars. Sam started his hockey career here at Hillheads and has gone onto play in the Elite League and English Premier League during the last decade or so.
Sam first appeared for Warriors back in the 2005/6 season in the old English National League and went onto establish himself as one of Whitley’s top d men during his time with his home town club. Sam moved to Telford in 2008 to step up to the EPL and ice for the Tigers and moved onto Basingstoke the following season to continue his hockey education down South.
Following a term with the Bison Sam moved back to his native north east and joined the Newcastle Vipers who were at the time using Hillheads as their home rink. Sam became a key d man for Vipers logging a lot of minutes out on the ice for the Elite League side. He then headed north to sign for the Braehead Clan and he spent the next 3 season patrolling the blue line for the side who play out of Glasgow.
Sam then moved back to Telford to once again ice for the Tigers in the English Premier League helping them to many honours during his 2nd spell with the club. Following the collapse of the EPL Sam moved to Swindon to ice in NIHL South during the last close season however an offer of permanent employment in Newcastle came along and the defenceman opted to move back to native north east which in turn led to his decision to once again step out in the maroon and gold of the Whitley Warriors.
Warriors are delighted to offer up the opportunity to sponsor Sam and anyone who is interested is invited to get in touch with the club via this link.
