A number of local firms have got behind Whitley Warriors this term and over the course of the campaign we are going thank these firms by doing a series of articles highlighting those companies that are currently doing all they can to help Simon Leach and his squad of Warriors.
The first in the series of articles focuses on Evans Halshaw Vauxhall and 42nd Street.
Evans Halshaw have sponsored the first two Warriors home games of the season and their Dealer Principal Jason Stewart spoke of why his company has chosen to support Whitley.
“Many of the Vauxhall Shiremoor team live in and around the Whitley Bay area, including myself. A large proportion of our customers also live and work in the area, so it was an easy decision to show our support for such a popular local team.
“Whitley Warriors are much more than a local team, they are a large part of the history and culture of Whitley Bay and we are immensely proud to be associated with them. There is a connection with Vauxhall Shiremoor on a personal level in that one of our team members Paul Matthews played for Whitley Warriors, and it was he that first brought the idea to me that we should get involved with them.
“We also have many team members that frequent the matches and follow the team so it really has created a buzz around Shiremoor Vauxhall and Evans Halshaw as a whole that we are now involved with them.”
Warriors Coach Simon Leach also shared his views on Evans Halshaw Vauxhall linking up with Warriors.
“On behalf of everyone at Whitley Warriors Ice Hockey Club we would like to welcome Evans Halshaw as one of our corporate partners for the 2013/14 season. We are delighted to have such a prestigious company on board as a sponsor this season and we hope this is the beginning of a long and successful relationship.
“It is of great importance to the club that we are able to get financial support from local businesses to aid with the running costs of the team. So I would like to say a massive thank you to Jason Stewart, Paul Matthews and everyone at Evans Halshaw for all of their support.”
Whitley Warriors would also like to thank local business 42nd Street for all of their support so far this campaign. Seafront bar 42nd Street are the latest firm to get behind the team, becoming Warriors’ helmet sponsor.
Gary Harding of 42nd Street spoke on why his firm have chosen to sponsor Warriors this season.
“All the Warriors are local lads whose kit can be very expensive which I don’t think a lot of people realise so it’s nice to be able to help a club that is at the heart of the local community. It’s also good to see a number of local businesses alongside my own getting behind the club.”
Whitley’s Head Coach Simon Leach shared his thoughts on his side’s link up with 42nd Street.
“We would like to express a massive thank you to Gary and Gavin from 42nd Street for agreeing to become our helmet sponsors for the coming season, it is fantastic that we have another local business backing the Warriors.
“Having known Gary and Gavin for a long time it is great that they have come on board and we hope this can become a strong partnership for many years to come.”
Fans are reminded that Warriors are in action on the road this coming weekend as Whitley take on the Sheffield Spartans at Ice Sheffield on Saturday (face off 3.45pm). Warriors next home game is on Sunday 6th October (face off 5pm) when Telford Titans make the trip up to Tyneside to take on Whitley in NIHL North action.
