Harry Harley has re-signed for Whitley Warriors after a spell in the English Premier League with the Peterborough Phantoms. Harry left Hillheads last summer to experience hockey at a higher level in the EPL however the versatile youngster has now decided he would like to move home and ice for the Warriors once again alongside his brother netminder Joe Harley.
Harry last played for Warriors during the 2012/13 season under the tutelage of Garry Dowd and (current Warriors assistant coach) Dave Holland. Harry played in numerous positions last season as he saw ice time in defence, at centre and on the wing the youngster was able to contribute 22 points along the way in the 28 appearances he made for the club.
Harry’s 22 point haul saw him 4th in Warriors scoring last term a healthy tally for a young player making his way in the game. Out of his 22 points Harry netted 8 goals with the most memorable effort probably being the fine strike he netted down at Blackburn straight from the game’s opening face off.
Warriors Coach Simon Leach spoke about Harry returning to the club.
“Harry comes straight into the squad and he should be available to ice this Sunday against the Billingham Stars. He is a very adaptable player who can play in both attack and defence so he will give us plenty of options between now and the end of the season.
“Harry returning to Hillheads is a welcome signing and a boost for the entire club. He will hopefully add some offensive power to our lines.”
Harry looks set to make his Warriors debut 2nd time round in this Sunday’s game against the Billingham Stars as Warriors look to get back to winning ways. Whitley are currently 1 place and 2 points off a play off spot so a victory this Sunday could see them edge closer to the top 4 and a play off berth.
