Whitley Warriors sole game this weekend is a local derby against the Billingham Stars at Hillheads on North Tyneside. Warriors should have recent signing Harry Harley back in their line up for this crucial clash on Sunday evening.
Warriors are currently 5th in the NIHL North Moralee Conference table 1 place and 2 points below an end of season play off spot making every game between now and the end of the campaign a crucial match for Simon Leach and his side. Whitley will be looking to claim the victory against Billingham on Sunday evening to close the gap to the top 4 sides.
Every Tyne Tees derby this season to date has been won by the team with home advantage. Warriors and Stars have played each other on 3 occasions with Stars taking the points twice on Teesside with 4-3 and 6-2 victories while Warriors beat Billingham 3-2 in the opening weeks of the season in Whitley Bay.
Whitley skipper DJ Good shared his views on this weekend’s game against Billingham.
“It’s a massive game for us and one we have to win. If we are going to turn our season around it needs to start this Sunday.
“We will have a full team and that’s really important so it should be a good, interesting and tough game.”
Fans are encouraged to come along to this Sunday’s clash with Billingham Stars at Hillheads (face off 5pm) for what should be a great game of hockey between 2 fierce local rivals in the last regular season north east derby of the 2013/14 campaign.
