Whitley Warriors are to take on the Aberdeen Lynx of the Scottish National League in a pre season challenge game on Sunday the 31st August at Hillheads as Simon Leach’s side prepare for the 2014/15 season. The Lynx finished 9th in the SNL standings last season picking up a number of positive results in their campaign.
Lynx may be a new name to many ice hockey fans in the north east of England however the side from Aberdeen have taken on Warriors NIHL North rivals the Solway Sharks on a number of occasions in the Scottish National League in recent times and results between the 2 Scottish sides suggest that despite being very much an unknown quantity Aberdeen will provide a stern test for Warriors in the pre season challenge match up that will be held on North Tyneside.
Warriors have been busy already this close season building a strong roster for the upcoming 2014/15 campaign and the fixture against the Lynx at the end of August could be Warriors supporters first opportunity to see the likes of Dean Holland and Alex Lawson in a Warriors shirt since the 2 players opted to return to Whitley.
