This weekend sees the first Tyne Tees derby of the 2014/15 campaign when the Billingham Stars travel to Whitley Bay on Sunday evening on take on the Warriors in a NIHL North Division 1 encounter. Warriors are hopeful of a bumper crowd for the derby match up as the club have been promoting the game inviting all hockey fans from the north east to the match.
Warriors take on Stars on Sunday December 14th at Hillheads ice rink in Whitley Bay in the eagerly anticipated first Tyne Tees derby of the 2014/15 campaign. Warriors are inviting all north east hockey fans both old and new to Hillheads for the game to see NIHL North hockey at its best.
Whitley Warriors unfortunately do not have a game this weekend due to NIHL North scheduling however the gap in Warriors fixtures has meant that Head Coach Simon Leach has been able to give his squad some time away from the rink recently to rest and recuperate.
Whitley Warriors have a busy weekend as they head to Dumfries to take on Solway Sharks in a St Andrews Cup game on Saturday evening before coming up against Sheffield Spartans on home ice on Sunday.
Warriors forward Adam Reynolds broke his ankle in last weekend's game with the Sutton Sting while young netminder Jordan Boyle has left Whitley to link up with NIHL North Champions the Solway Sharks.
Whitley and Solway will contest the cup over two games, with the opening leg taking place away on Saturday 11th October and the home leg on Sunday 9th November (face off 5pm) at Hillheads.
