Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce that they will have 2 pre season games ahead of their 2017/18 NIHL North Division 1 campaign.
Warriors General Manager Dave Holland has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure Warriors can go into the season at the top of their game. Whitley will take on the Whitley Bay Islanders on Thursday 31th August at 9.15pm before a game against the UK Combined Armed Forces team on Sunday September 3rd at Warriors normal face off time of 5pm.
Both games will provide Warriors with match practise against competitive sides as David Longstaff’s side get ready for life in the new look NIHL North. The Whitley Bay Islanders are one of the best teams in recreational hockey and many former Warriors have laced up their skates for the Islanders over the years.
The UK Combined Armed Forces side will provide Warriors with a challenging game given the Armed Forces side will be made up from the best players from the rosters of the Army, Navy and Airforce squads. A collection will be held at the game against the Armed Forces in which 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Help the Heroes with the other 50% being donated to the Bobby Robson Foundation in memory of the late Bobby Dixon who was known throughout NIHL circles for his great passion for Whitley Warriors and hockey in general.
