Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce that Anthony Wetherell, Ross Douglass and Jamie Ord will all ice in the maroon and gold next season. All three players have come through the ranks at Whitley Bay Junior Ice Hockey Club and they have all held either a captain or alternate captain role during that time.
They were all enthusiastic about the new season. “I’m looking forward to being back for this coming season and I’m excited to build on how well we performed as a team last year. A few of last season’s games showed that we can compete with the former EPL teams which made for a more competitive league,” 17-year-old Jamie Ord told us.
“I’ve been training over the whole summer with the juniors to maintain fitness ready for the start of the season,” Ross Douglass added. “I’m hoping the team can improve on last season’s performance and make a push in the league.”
Anthony Wetherell, 19, was equally keen about the season. “I’m happy to be playing for the warriors again this season and hopefully I will be able to contribute a bit more to the team throughout the season.”
The trio were looking forward to getting back out on the ice in front of the Hillheads faithful. “There have been a few changes within the team,” Jamie explained, “so I’m sure our loyal and supportive fans are just as excited to get the season underway as we are!”
Welcome back Anth, Ross and Jamie!
