Whitley Warriors are pleased to announce the re-signing of dexterous defenceman Harry Harley who will resume the role of alternate captain for the club this campaign.
Having broken through the junior ranks at Hillheads, 26-year-old Harley made his senior debut for Whitley Warriors in their 2011-12 season in the English National League, playing 21 league games in which he tallied 6 goals and 9 assists, whilst also enjoying ice time with the Braves and lacing up his skates for GB’s Under 18s outfit at the World Junior Championships where he managed 1 goal and 2 assists in 5 games. Whilst similarly dividing his ice time in the season that followed, Harley also made his EPL debut with Peterborough Phantoms and then signed for the outfit in 2013, featuring in 36 games that season.
A return to Hillheads followed in his 2014-15 campaign and Harley’s attacking play from the blue line continued to impress as he went on to achieve the most goals by a defenceman in NIHL 1 North two seasons later. Harley also played a brief spell with Hull Pirates in his 2018-19 season, collecting 5 points in 8 league games. In his last five full campaigns with the Warriors, the ‘D’ man has been Whitley’s highest top points scoring defenceman in all but their most recent season at the end of which he was named NIHL 1 North’s Player of the Year.
On re-signing for Whitley, Harley shared: “I’m excited to be back playing for the Warriors after such a long time off. It’s been a strange 18 months not playing every week and seeing all of the lads. We started training earlier in the year, not knowing if the season was going to go ahead. When Paul contacted me with the plans for the team that he and Lobby were putting together, I was more than happy to sign up again! I’m just looking forward to seeing the lads and playing in front of all the fans again. Hopefully we can continue from where we left off in the 2019-20 season.”
Welcome back, Harry!
