Whitley Warriors suffered a double defeat on the opening weekend of their 2018-19 NIHL North campaign as David Longstaff’s men began with an 8-1 loss to Hull Pirates before enduring an 8-2 beating from tough contenders Telford Tigers at Hillheads.
Whitley Warriors play off campaign got underway on Saturday evening when David Longstaff’s team took on the Telford Tigers in the quarter final of the Championship Play Offs in NIHL North Division 1 on home ice. Warriors were able to name a strong squad for the game including the likes of Harry Harley, Ben Richards and Dan Pye in their line up however the influential Jordan Barnes unfortunately had to miss the game through suspension.
Whitley Warriors had 2 games on the road over the course of the weekend as they travelled down to North Wales to face Deeside on Saturday before a shorter trip to Teesside on Sunday when Warriors took on the Billingham Stars in their final league game of the campaign.
Whitley Warriors had a busy weekend as they travelled down to South Yorkshire on Saturday evening to take on the Sheffield Steeldogs before a clash with the Billingham Stars on home ice on Sunday night.
Whitley Warriors took on the Telford Tigers on Sunday evening at Hillheads Ice Rink in Whitley Bay. Warriors were able to name a healthy roster of 20 players plus netminders Mark Turnbull and Jordan Boyle for the game against the title chasing Tigers.
Whitley Warriors were in action late on Sunday evening in Nottingham as their NIHL North Division 1 game against the Lions which was due to face off at 7.30pm got delayed slightly. The late face off saw Warriors squad a little light on bodies though Player/Coach David Longstaff was still able to name a competitive line up for his sides trek south.
Whitley Warriors were in action on just the 1 occasion over the weekend when they took on the Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday evening on home ice at Hillheads in Whitley Bay. Warriors were able to name a strong roster with recent absentee Callum Watson coming back into the line up alongside all regular members of the squad.
Whitley Warriors had a busy weekend once again as David Longstaff’s side took on the Solihull Barons on home ice on Saturday before a lengthy away trip down to Shropshire to take on the Telford Tigers on Sunday night.
Whitley Warriors had a double header of games against the Blackburn Hawks over the weekend with an away fixture on Saturday evening before a home game the following day
