Whitley Warriors faced the Hull Pirates twice over the course of the weekend with an away fixture on the Saturday evening before a clash at Hillheads in Whitley Bay on Sunday night.
Whitley Warriors started 2018 with a double header of games with a trip to the Scottish Borders to take on the Solway Sharks on Saturday evening before a home game against the Solihull Barons the following night.
Whitley Warriors travelled down to Humberside to face the Hull Pirates on Sunday evening in a NIHL North Division 1 fixture. Warriors were able to name recent signing Sam Zajac in their line up however Whitley were without a number of influential players such as Daniel Pye, Martin Crammond, Adam Finlinson, Mark Turnbull and Harry Harley.
Christmas came early for Whitley Warriors on Sunday evening as the Tynesiders picked up a resounding 7-3 derby victory over Billingham Stars in NIHL action.
Whitley Warrior are delighted to announce that accomplished blue liner Sam Zajac has signed for the club and will go into the squad for next weekend’s game against local rivals the Billingham Stars. Sam started his hockey career here at Hillheads and has gone onto play in the Elite League and English Premier League during the last decade or so.
Whitley Warriors entertained the Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday evening on North Tyneside. Warriors were a little short benched as they were without a number of players including the influential duo of dependable d man Josh Maddock and free scoring import forward Phil Edgar.
Whitley Warriors started their busy weekend with a home game against the Deeside Dragons on Saturday evening before a tough away trip down to Telford the following day.
On Sunday evening David Longstaff and his squad of players made the journey down to South Yorkshire to take on the Sheffield Steeldogs at their Ice Sheffield base. This was to be the first ever game between Warriors and Steeldogs following Sheffield’s move from the now defunct EPL into the NIHL North set up.
