Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce that defenceman Dan Pye will return for 2019-20 after a season out of the game.
Dan joined Warriors from Wightlink Raiders in 2014-15 and patrolled the Whitley blue line for the next four seasons before taking a year out. His return will bolster the defensive options available to Head Coach David Longstaff. Despite being known as a solid stay-at-home defenceman, Dan still has the ability to get on the scoresheet. A firm fan favourite, supporters will be pleased at his return.
“I’m really excited to be coming back team,” Dan said. “Me and my young family had decided it would be best to have some time away from hockey to concentrate on family and work. We had a lot going on in our lives with a newborn, new jobs and planning a wedding. The wedding is still to come but everything is now settled and in a good place to return to hockey and the Warriors.
“It has been extremely hard to be away from the team and I nearly caved a good few times through last season. I hope I can fit back into the team as I know there has been changes since I’ve been away.
“I also hope I can bring back the old Dan Pye with plenty of big hits especially.
“Look forward to be back on the blue line at the Wigwam!”
Welcome back Dan!
