Whitley Warriors take on the Solihull Barons this weekend in a NIHL North Division 1 encounter on home ice at Hillheads ice rink in Whitley Bay. Warriors currently occupy 2nd position in the standings with Solihull 1 place behind them so this Sunday’s game looks set to be a thrilling game of hockey between 2 of the league’s top sides.

Longstaff to utilise Warriors roster on Sunday
Warriors player/coach David Longstaff has stated that he will use his full roster of players this weekend against the Sheffield Senators in a NIHL North Division 1 match up as he looks to establish just what his best forward lines and defensive pairings are ahead of the end of season championship play offs that will be held down at Ice Sheffield in mid April following the end of the regular campaign.

Warriors claim narrow road victory
Whitley Warriors travelled down to Sheffield to take on the Spartans on Sunday afternoon at Ice Sheffield. Whitley were without several senior players due to injury and illness which saw player/coach David Longstaff fully utilise his large roster of players. Forward Martin Crammond moved back into defence for Warriors as a number of Whitley’s blue liners such as Joe Stamp, Andre Payette, Scott Cooper and youngsters Liam Smeldey and Craig Johnson were all unable to take part in the match up.
Queenan injury update
Thanks to everyone wishing Callum Queenan their best after he broke his collar bone last night. Callum spoke to a specialist earlier today and it is thought he could be back in training within 6-7 weeks as it appears he does not need an operation.
